I made the first assumption but not the second. If it is a stepper
system then the only change to positions are along the tool path. The
first assumption was because I was talking about what I have been
working on and the use of Mach3 and even if that uses a servo it will
be under step and direction control.

Given the feed rates that is a lot of intervals!
