sound advice Steve,

take a cut and don't let tool dwell, use a power feed if possible. Machinist often make this mistake and don't get the best out of cutting tools.

Hi Dan - depends entirely on the insert and carbide grade. Correct
choice of insert and interrupted cuts aren't a problem.
