Also, with regards to the 3-jaw & sleeve approach: bore a brass
sleeve to the proper ID and MARK the sleeve position to correspond
to the #1 jaw. Then you can take it out, slit it, slip it over the
screw & reposition it to line up with the #1 jaw again. Most 3-jaw
chucks have runout and if you were to reposition the sleeve wrong
you could actually double the run-out of the work.
