I have used regular wires through bulkhead fittings into terminal
strips, as well as panel mount Jones plugs (both wired together with
the stepper motor wires in a 12 pin version, as well as separate 2 or
4 pin varieties). I have seen people use 9 pin DIN connectors before,
amphenol plugs (pricey though), and multipole Anderson plugs (not
usually panelmount).
