Hi Guys,
After a couple decades doing electrical/avionics work on airplanes I'm thinking about changing careers. I've long been fascinated by machine tools and factory automation, and may have an opportunity to take on a project that would require me to get up to speed quickly on g-code and ladder logic programming and all the associated machine interfaces.
I'm pretty well versed in electrical/electronic basics and have done some basic programming. Also have a hobby CNC mill and lathe, and have a rudimentary understanding of machine tool operation.
I'd like eventually to develop marketable expertise in designing, building, and programming custom production machinery.
I know that covers a lot of ground, but can anyone suggest a good primer, online school, or any other ideas to help get me going in the right direction?
Thanks,
Jim McMillan
