I have had a great experience the last 2 years at Casper College in Wyoming. Majored in Machine Tool Technology. Recieved over 800 hours in manual machining instruction on a wide variety of lathes (including a new programmable toolroom lathe), mills, surface grinders, plasma cutter, etc. Also CNC programming classes for turning centers and machining centers. In addition, I took classes in AutoCAD, Surfcam, and Solidworks. Also welding, blueprint reading, metalurgy, and others. All for less than $1,000/semester full time.

Jim,
Dave is right about Community Colleges. We have such a program available at El Camino College in this area. You might be able to get more help if we knew where you're located.
