Another thing to look at is the magnetic system. Sometimes permanent
magnets can be demagnetized. When that happens the motor can work VERY
poorly. Generally it is wisest to replace the motor, but it is possible
to remagnetize the motor. It isn't cheap, but if a new motor is not
available, your choices are somewhat limited.
