Specific thanks and answers below, BUT Dan's comment . "If there is an
electrical problem with the motor then it probably took out the driver
unless it had short circuit protection." That doesn't sound good! So I need
to talk to Centroid about their short circuit protection and test
procedures. Should I find that a control axis is bad, should I look to
upgrade to something like Geckos or some other driver that I could control
with a PC? And what would be the cost to do this? And is there any resale
value to the Centroid system???
1 -Dan and David - I see how to check motors.
2 -John and polaraligned, I am working on getting manuals from Centroid.
3 - Sam - Yes, this is a CNC2, which means it should have ballscrews, and
the Seller says it does - with de minimis backlash. The mid 70's BOSS
control was retrofit with Centroid in 1990 (at a cost of about $10K).
