not meaning to "correct" anyone but STL is not a Solidworks file - it's a
format that Solidworks can export and it's probably the best format to
choose when dealing with multiple apps as it's become kind of a standard
because it's supported by many apps :) I use it to go from Solidworks to
Mastercam
