Very professional site that bears more looking when I get time. Minor problem: the link to Sony's Vegas Movie Studio is broken on the page http://www.makermasters.com/%c2%a0 It's actually relatively inexpensive software.
You're lucky to find a machine shop anywhere given the cancellation of wood and metal shop classes at many high schools for "liability" reasons. Searches for machine shop classes tend to bring up machine shops or online classes. Right, try using a lathe online.

Subject: [CAD_CAM_EDM_DRO] Photo album updates
I added a few more photos to the Bgriggs photo album. I build stage props for the Local High School every year using my CNC Router.
My CNC Router table is extremely modified but started life as a Joescnc 4x4 Hybrid. I have begun replacing all the MDF pieces with aluminum parts. I am lucky to have access to a full metal machine shop at the local State College. I am helping their Mechanical Engineering class complete the Capstone project of building a CNC Router table as it would be designed for manufacturing.
One of the things I tackled in the my new machine design was to completely redesign the X and Z carriages for simplicity, strength and speed. I called this project the Warp Drive Project.
I will post more picture soon. There are other pictures and info on my blog.
