Hi
Inventor is a solid modeller cad program (it does not produce any machine code), so its not strange they could not be of any help. What you need is a cam program which convert the input from a solid or surface modelling program into GCode which the CNC controller can understand. Autodesk has recently acquired a cam company but that is a serious product running mabe up to 6 axis or so with a pricetag to match. For many people who may be running Mach3 controller will also use Meshcam which is very affordable. In Inventor you "save as" a .stl file, then import this file into meshcam, adjust the various settings then convert this to gcode, which you import into your controller.

I have been told I need to use an EMC2 post processor. Can someone please elaborate on this subject and let me know what exactly I will need. The people at AutoDesk have been unhelpful and it is almost impossible to find a phone number to their corporate office to ask this question. Any and all advice is helpful.
