My day job bought a Thermwood about 3 years ago. (A model 53 for about 200
K installed). I had the same fantastic tour through the facility. The
rectangular tubing they use flows throught the place like water. I nearly
had a heart attack when they walked us through the rooms full of spindles,
linear rails and ballscrews.

One most novel machine I saw was an old planer that had been converted to
a milling machine by the addition of a Bridgeport J head. I'm pretty sure it
was a manual machine but I remember thinking it'd could be a great large part
CNC mill on a budget. I swear the bed was 12 feet long. Too bad the Thermwood
is too large to sneak home on the week ends. I'd force it to cut more
aluminum.
