I am not a southerner anymore, we came to Canada in the early 80's to
escape the recession and walked into one that had just started and
never went away (in friendly Quebec that is!). Can't win em all.
I served an apprenticeship as a scientific intrument maker in London,
seems a million years ago, the last century at least. Tradesmen used
wear ties and and polish their shoes in those days! Anyway, I
understand what you mean.
We have just started getting Emmerdale (Farm) on our local TV Station
and I must admit there is not a cloth cap in sight, not even the
marks
left by one.
