No experience with the Linux build you are using, but accessing the floppy
should be the same as on RedHat. If I remember correctly try from the
command line:
mount -t msdos /dev/fd0 /mnt/floppy

I don't know what type of help files the build you are using give, but you
may want to try:
mount --h
and/or
umount --h
and see if it gives you the syntax fro the command.

As far as books goes, there are ton's of then and they all aim at different
levels. I would suggest going to your nearest large book store and looking
in the computer section. Maybe a better idea is to pick up the boxed version
of RedHat 5.2 while you can still find it and the book that is included will
get you through most of the basics.

Regarding a word processor, for the most part Linux uses text editors and
you probably already have VI or an EMAC. Unless you really want to be a
Linux wiz, I would say wait until you can get Xwindows running and make sure
you load the X-EMACS and you will be fine for the little bit of file editing
you may want to do on the Linux box.
