While at PRIME last year they passed around some parts made on a wire EDM
machine, this uses a wire to do the cutting, and under computer control they
can easily move the wire. They had a hypodermic needle that had special
computer designed slots in it, had to use a magnifier to see them. This
device is a STENT, that is used in heart surgery, they insert the thing and
expand it with a balloon??? And it expands the artery that it is installed
in. It is something that would almost be impossible to cut with a mill, as
the slots were so small. About the reverse of a Chinese finger trap.
