FlashCut's "signal generator" is a std. microcontroller
implementation, with a max232 chip and something like an 'hc11 or
similar, I'll have to check...

It is programmed as a motion/IO controller, including the timing "on
board".

I haven't ever "intercepted" the serial link, but I suspect it is a
lot like the talk to a PMD or CYbernetics chip. Or a simple Galil.

P.S. The "lingo" I just threw out above refers to manufacturers and
motion chips, some usually used by higher end CNC systems. You're not
missing anything if it doesn't make sense to you.
