I was excited there for a minute. The APIC in a p6 processor is perfect for
creating a signal generator.
Problem is, I don't have one on my celeron 400mhz processor. (locked up nice
when I enabled the one I don't have though).
I'm think Jon's quite right. You just can't get good granularity without
a good programmable timer. The
APIC looks like the signal generator of the future though.
(When I get around to an upgrade. Celeron at 488mhz
seems good enough for everything else though)
