Both stepper and servos will use an encoder counter board (if you don't
have
encoders, it will count step pulses). For servos, there will also be a
DAC
board. For steppers or 'servo-lite' systems, there will be a step pulse

generator. So, the motion stuff requires 2 boards in all cases, to
support
up to 4 axes. There will be later additions to the set to handle
digital I/O.
