I am all for keeping things as simple as possible also, so I see what you
mean. But if the circular interpolation is done by the computer, the update
rate between the computer and hardware pulse generator is much higher
whether using a serial or parallel interface. If the circular interpolation
is done in the hardware (microcontroller's firmware) then the only data
update from the computer is the destination and radius (or center offset).
Actually the precalculations for linear and circular interpolation could be
done by the computer and only a few registers need to be updated by the
computer to the microcontroller for the whole circ or linear move..
