The vertical lines you are referring are a sign of vibration not a
reflection on your resolution. If you are cutting 6061 aluminum it is pretty
common unless you have a very stiff setup. Any movement in your setup,
spindle, or table will give you the pattern you are describing. Also, speed,
feed, cutting fluid, bit sharpness, . . . . all have an effect. I have seen
it less often when machining other materials. Low resolution will show up as
"stair steps". Yes, a 4 flute will yield a better finish once you get the
vibration cured.
