The "xemc" GUI to EMC doesn't require anything fancy, but it's sized for
something like 800x600. If it goes off the screen you can change the
screen resolution. I do this at the login text console via:
1. prompt> cp /etc/X11/XF86Config /etc/X11/XF86Config.0
This creates a backup of the X config file, in case the new settings
don't work at all. You can restore by doing the reverse copy.
2. prompt> Xconfigurator
This brings up the X configuration tool. There are others you can use,
e.g., XF86Setup.
3. Eventually you'll get to set the screen resolution. Pick 800x600. You
can pick others, and when you run X you can hit "control-alt-enter" to
toggle through the resolutions. When you're on a lower resolution, you
may be able to move the cursor to the right or bottom and have the
screen slide across or up to reveal the hidden pixels. This can be nice
or annoying.
