A good friend of my dad's did this. Made ultra-high current RF switches
(like 10,000 amps!) that you could hold in your hand. Market was small
enough, prices high enough, nobody wanted to buy one to take apart to
reverse engineer. Units were epoxied together in such a fashion taking
one apart would not allow putting it back together.
Made himself a nice little living out of his garage in the San Jose
foothills, and is comfortably retired today.
