Gotta disagree. The block format of the G81 code is correct. For it
to happen the way you suggest means that the R (release, or clearance
plane) is shifting down also. This "should NOT" happen!
In other words, each drill cycle returns to a fixed plane at .5 units
above the material surface (assuming zero is at material surface).
Then at the next cycle it will again go down (in Z) 1 unit into the
material. The G91 is there so that the "whole drill cycle" will move
5 units in x each iteration.
Gcode experts, Have I got that right?
