Subject: [CAD_CAM_EDM_DRO] Quiet list
I am waiting for Dans 5 amp stepper kit to arrive, with DeskNC, (can't
wait to get the soldering iron onto the gas ring) I will have to start
to take a look at G codes because I have not used these before, all my
programming has been in PR, PA format, (any advice appreciated). I have
been finnishing off a small 6 station tailstock turret for an old IXL lathe
which I use for Making brass terminals, I have this lathe and a Le Blonde
10" Regal which is very nice but can't do some of the things the IXL can do.
The IXL could probaly do with a retro CNC kit fitting, as I do quite a bit
of repitition work with it,
I always thought it was of more use to CNC a mill rather than a lathe
as I suspect a stepper would not be fast enough as a main drive motor ?
This has always put me off CNCing a lathe, but maybee someone has some
simple answers to the above,
Best Wishes

>How is bar feeding catered for on a small CNC lathe? and do you have touse a servo system for the main drive speeds, and threading feed rate, etc
as I suspect a stepper would not be fast enough as a main drive motor ?
