Yes, ball screws transmit the power much more efficiently. The figures I
remember for ball screws is something like 90% efficient. I think I have
heard acme screws are more like 30 - 40%. So, with ball screws much more of
the power is available for accelerating and decelerating the table than with
acme screws.
