That 0.001"/in error seems to be consistent.

Ended up with about 25 thou of backlash before I sold the thing.

I ended up brazing a bracket on the end of the gib so I could do a decent adjustment and have it stay put.

Didn't pay much more for a decent piece of American iron with ballscrews... <big big grin>
What is more it has most of the goodies that the HSM series to fix the deficiencies implements.
