Ah...my first answer was in error....thought you wanted a round hole.

Now I'd first drill the corners using a 1/2" dia. drill. If a smoother
finish were required, I'd drill first with a 31/64 drill and then run a
reamer thru the holes. After that I'd remove the majority of stock with a
shell end mill and do final clean up with an extended length 1" diameter end
mill having a 3/4 diameter shank. I'd also work from both sides if necessary
to avoid having to buy a special cutter to reach all the way thru the 6.25"
thickness.

ABOUT -.600 PER PECK AND A FEED OF 20.IPM. DO YOU THINK THIS IS TO MUCH?
THE POCKET HAS A .25 RADIUS IN THE CORNERS AND I WANT TO AVOID CHATTER WHAT
DO YOU SUGGEST. YOUR INPUT IS GREATLY APPRECIATED.
