If it has a bunch of red and yellow, blue and yellow, brown and yellow,
or white and red pairs, all the same color combination, and funny looking
silver-ish wires, that is thermocouple extension cable. In general, you won't
be able to tin at least one of the wires. I have gotten some of this as
surplus 'shielded, twisted-pair' cable. I used one hunk of it in a pinch,
once, but it was VERY difficult to solder properly.
