Joe,

I don't think Upgrade or Omni used such an exotic material. I could be
wrong but based on how massive they make the main components, I doubt one
would need to use nothing more than mild steel. The upgrade unit I installed
took two guys to lift onto the DV-59 dovetail. I think the main plate is 2"
thick..... The saddle is 1 - 1/4"? It's heavy. I can go measure if you are
interested. I got the shorter 5" Z slide option. Mistake, should have got it
as long as possible. If you can provide a third set of ways for a
programmable tailstock, you'd be way ahead. (no pun intended).
