Hi Dave:
Your comments on bronze caught my attention.
I've used Aluminum bronze on injection mold slide rails and wear plates.
It wears very well and won't pick up, but it's the devil's own to try to
machine accurately.
It warps all over the place, and doesn't surface grind worth a damn.
I always had the best success bolting the plates into position and then
flycutting them to final size.
I can just imagine the stresses imposed by these parts if they were part of
a machine slide.
Linear bearings are the way to go.
