Since I live on a large lake known for its bass, I've learned a parody to
that parable:

Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach him to fish and he will
spend $31,000 on a boat and gear, another $28,000 on a four wheel drive,
then spend Sundays standing in the boat wearing silly clothes,swilling beer
and tossing the empties on the shore. The bass go largely unbothered.
