Hi..... You know Chris is on the right track with the stepper specs, low
voltage and high amps, or at least as high as you stepper driver can dish
out! That also means lower phase resistance, also 8 wire steppers are
usually higher quality, and do give one options when comes to amps, voltage
and resistance....... As far as the oz. per inch, you can guess all you
want, but you will have to get that info from the manufacture!
I have a 3 axis cnc mill, and just recently added a sherline rotary table,
the one that was supply was a very good stepper, 100 oz. of torque at 2
amps. The way I use it is, I substitute the Y axis for the rotary, but the
Y axis is about 5 amps, too much for the 2 amp sherline stepper, I replaced
it with a 4 amp stepper, which makes changing them a whole lot easier! It
as about $60, and is unused, it also is double shafted, if your interested,
you could save about $20 from buying it from sherline.
