In addition to the mentioned sheet metal possibilites,
there are
articles on the web about building a vacum forming
machine for making
parts out of plastic. They might not hold up forever,
but once you
make the mold and vacum table you can make
replacements as needed.
These may be less likely to rattle than metal covers -
although if
your machine is good there shouldn't be that much
vibration to rattle
them anyway.

Hi Chris,

That was a good suggestion, I think it is a practical
cost effective
solution. Do you have any links to vacuum forming
machine sites?
