Art, I got the rating wrong, it is only 980 hold, 500 run.
Their biggest one (bottom of page 11) weight 16 lbs and costs $40.
I can't help but wonder if there is any way these could be rewound.
I've got a disassembled little nema 23 (and odd beast that is only 24
steps/revolution) and the windings around each pole are connected in
series with the one two poles over - ie, the two phases are big long
series chains. If it were possible to cut those wires and wire each
phase up to parallel all its component poles, one might have a nice
low-inductance motor. Ie, $40 plus several hours work giving the
equivelent of a $300 motor...
But it would be tricky to do without damaging the motor.
