You can generally convert RS-274D files to 274X quite easily.
The most basic change is just that the apertures are specified in a
specific way in 274X at the beginning of the file. 274X has a lot
of more sophisticated features that allow you to erase part of
what you've drawn, do area fills and a bunch of more sophisticated
stuff. But, if you just need to make a basic 274X file from a 274D,
it is not too hard. Get a couple files and look at them, and see how
the apertures are defined at the beginning.
