The only problem with using a mill is the length. If you have a 40" barrel
and a 40" rifling rod plus 12" on each end for indexer/rifling head your
around the 100" range. I was thinking of using a junker lathe bed and
building the rest. I know nothing about CNC controlls but it should be a
simple program since there is one constant and only one variable to change.
Someone said there is like 10,000 sample rate a second on some controllers,
that sould be great. Haas also said there indexers will travel smoothly
rather than "stepping". Is there any good books I can read to educate myself
a little about this? Thanks, Brad
