Ahhhh, I actually put variac in my reply and then deleted thinking something
was wrong with it. Now I see why. I need to think a bit more. :)

I know car garages sell contact rpm meters, I don't think they would go to
30,000 rpm, you'd have to make a little gear for it to (I think the one I
saw was 15k rpm, 2:1). Besides, you should have a dust extractor hooked up
to that router, you don't want MDF dust everywhere with all the worries
about it being carcinogenic.
