Hi Ben,

There's really no problem transferring files across a network from a
linux/emc computer to a windows one and vice versa. Linux comes with a
program called Samba which does the translation from Microsoftese to the
real world.
There is now also a program called LinNeighborhood which is the linux
equivalent of Network Neighbourhood - fairly new but it works OK on my
system between linux boxes and win98 although I am having some problems
getting it to talk to win2000.
Once you have 'mounted' the windows machine on the linux one you can just
copy files between directories on the two machines or drag-and-drop 'em,
whichever suits you. While there are some differences at base level between
windows and linux, the average user nowadays will see little difference
between them.
