Thanks Carlos for the update.
I talked with Mr. Volta about a year ago. I heard about it at that time.
Unfortunately, my old copy of version 3 won't be compatible, so I would have
to buy the whole thing over. That upset me a bit because there was a serious
bug in setting program Zero with the original hpgl interface. I just wanted
that fixed so I could use it on a machine. Now it sits on the shelf.
Obviously, the hpgl aspect has limited the program for full 3d motion work.
The G-code interface will open new doors.
I hope he has taken input from individuals on how the GUI should look and
work, so nothing is missed. I feel the underlying portion of the program is
quite adequate, and the motion very smooth although I have had some tell me
it is not, blah,blah,blah.
It was good to see such massive improvement to the TSR portion with the newer
releases. Seems it would be very nice now although, I am told it has a
protection device that may interfear with the full operation of it's
capability. At least the program is being continuously upgraded over time.
It seems that the individuals who have made a DOS front for it are extremely
pleased with their accomplishments. I can think of three: CNCLPT, A six axis
control from Production Automation Tech, and the program developed by Hoyt
Mckagen: now, Axis Wizard.
I'd be interested in hearing responses from people who currently use Indexer
and the various programs that make it operate.
Thanks,
Chris Luebke
