Yes we changed some on a laser cutters Y axis a while ago from the
normal recirculating ball type.
When initally fitted they were very free and look a lot less power to
move the axis. However after only a couple of weeks due to the fine
metal/ slag dust that is generated by these machines the axis had got
very stiff. We changed back to ball type and had no more trouble.
So depending on use and enviroment it's your call.
I wouldn't advise on a wood router for the same problem.
