Hi Steve
Standard PC keyboards and mice in a workshop environment is asking for
trouble. The industrial controls will have sealed switches and use good
quality keyboards. These are expensive, and when you start adding all the
required functions up, you will soon see why the average homebrew uses just a
keyboard/mouse.
There are alternatives though. Touchscreen technology is coming down in price
and can be used in place of a mouse. With a little work on the GUI, most, if
not all the keys can be dispensed with.
Make a note in your diary for NAMES 2002 at the end of April, and you should
see a number of different solutions - Might even have my "Microwave" control
there.
Regards, Paul.
