|Bear with me as I am very much electronicaly challenged. I set
|everything up in turbocnc as you said I then put the negative and
|postive leads of my DVM across the step and dir terminals on the
|gecko and show arounf 3.25 volts, when i jog the opposite way it goes
|to 0.00 and when i again go the opposite way it goes back to 3.25, is
|that what I am looking for?
That would seem correct. Also, be sure that you have the step and direction
lines from the computer port connected to the correct terminals on the Gecko
Drive. I made a set up error in setting up TurboCNC and mistakenly switched
the step and direction pin numbers for one motor. The motor jerked, but did
nothing else. Once I realized the problem and set up TurboCNC properly, that
axis worked properly. Also, once you start trying to execute a G-Code
program, remember that TurboCNC requires that the first line be {dakcnc3.0}
and that the line immediately before the start of your program code be
{program start}
| As far as the resistors I am not sure
|what to go with. My motor is rated at 2 amps which would be a 18k
|reisitor, do I want to go higher/lower than this. Thanks so much
|Alan for taking to time to help me along.
I believe that 18K is a standard resistor, although it may not be at your
local Radio Shack store. You want to run your motors at rated current, or
less. If you don't have a 18K resistor, you should be able to determine
whether you need a larger or smaller resistor by looking at the table that
comes with the Gecko drive.
