If this is the Gettys drive, they are very good. You might find
replacement ones around. If you stick with the full servo system with
encoder feedback to the pc you will need some kind of board that will read
those encoders and make the info available to your CNC software. And you
will need an analog(ue) signal to run the drive amps. Servo-To-Go is one
such card. Jon's PPMC cards is another.

The full servo approach will restore a machine like the Tree to near
factory movement and depending on what CNC package you choose can allow
you to add a lot of software as well as additional hardware features to
milling.

Despite some of what has been said recently around these parts, setting up
Gecko 3x0 systems is also reasonably easy. It is without a doubt the
lower cost choice although there will be some potential loss of the tight
control that you can have with the full servo option.

I am also a very satisfied user of Mariss's devices. (1/6th of the price
of Centent and a wider choice of applications)
