I'm not sure what 'reasonably priced' means. I have 4-channel encoder
counter cards that connect to the parallel port for $200 each, and a
motherboard that takes up to 8 cards for $100. So, 8 channels would
cost $500. (There are also DACs for servo motor drive, and soon I'll
have a digital I/O card, with 16 opto-isolated inputs and 8 SSR outputs
