Quite a few knee mlls do this. If they have a tool changer they often
need to do it this way.
I have an Acton Supermill that is set up X,Y,Z and W for the knee.
If it's doing say a sausepan mould and the tool is down inside, it
needs to drop the knee to provide clearance for the tool arm to move
over. It has an 8" quill movement but this is not enough at times for
some of the jobs so it uses both axis.
Matchmaker is another model that springs to mind that does exactly
the same.
