im running emc (at least emc-sim...long story) on compact flash here. i
used the compact flash to IDE adapters, with 2-256 meg cards, bdi-2.9, i did
the custom install and was carefull of what i installed. it boots MUCH
faster on compact flash. its price is dropping pretty quickly too, 512 card
i saw the other day for around 300... the two 256's i bought for 130 and 100
two weeks later (with rebate)
instead of a sbc (bdi may have problems with video) you may think about
'revision control boards' with are basically old 440BX chipset boards that
have a very strict revision/quality control.... from what i've read, they
have the dependiablity of sbc's, but act just like normal mother boards...
i was told the other day that compact flash has a degridation problem... i
was skeptical, so i researched it and found most suppliers show a MTBF of
1,000,000 to 10,000,000hours... uh... 114 years? oh my, what if in 114
years it fails!!! ohNO!!!!! anyhow, sarcasm aside, ive gotta work---Dave L.
