the issue of cell degridation (but spelled right) was what had been pointed
out to me, the controller in compact flash keeps track of read/writes and
will 'decomission' a cell if it exceeds the amount in the specs. it also
acts as ECC... but i know practically nothing about that, just read it in
the specifications... with cheap ram i guess you could run without swap, if
its only a machine controller, and the only real hard memory usage is EMC...
which i think allocates its own memory??? (help me here) then as long as
your not playing mp3's.... AND youve got 256+ ram, that would be workable
