Boy, Thus goes the Continuous hpgl "wrestling match" while trying to use an
inexpensive Drawing method to actually cut something. I've been down these
paths before. First, Corel does not install the hpgl filter by default, then
even worse why Corel makes it unable to export a "closed" object in hpgl is
just unacceptable. This I read in a google discussion................. Glad I
never spent a dime on those newer versions.

My very favorite hpgl export from Corel came from V3r1. This was the floppy
version not on CD. Version 4 was missing some enhanced "machining"
capabilities( for lack of a better term), and version 5 became a good one to
use, yet had hpgl compatability problems.

Corel 7 is what I ended up liking the most, this after I became disgusted
with the huge "patch" downloads invloved with version 8. V8 sits on a shelf
collecting dust.

I do use Corel 7 occasionally yet for Sign Related work but more often I just
use SignLab.

Once I had the mindset to realize that the "inexpensive" route took way too
much time not to add the agony of compatability, I just bought more of the
right products. Since then, Routing, Engraving and machining in general
became much, much more fun.

I have heard that Corel finally fixed the DXF filters in V10. None of the
previous had ever been reliable. Go figure that they would screw up the hpgl
and fix the DXF.
If your into Signs and or light machining, The newer versions in my opinion
just do not give you any advantages over good old dependable and affordable
version 7, still often found on E-bay.
