~Is that a 3C machine? If so, doesn't it have something like 8000rpm
~on the spindle? Fagor 8025TG control?
~
3c it is.
They rebuilt the machine for me after they stripped it for parts. It can
maybe reach a top speed of about 5k rpm now. As for the controller, its a
fagor 8055 now, or so they tell me. I really don't trust them at this
point. You don't even want to hear the story that I have to tell you about
it.
~Regarding the tooling, tons of it on Ebay. For 5/8" round shank
~tools get standard 3/8" center height Hardinge chucker toolholders
~and shim them up an 1/8". That's what I've been doing for 4+ years
~on my Upgrade (pre-CMS) machine. For square shanks, use 1/2" shank
~tools in Hardinge square shank holders (those holders are made for
~3/8" shanks, so the 1/2" shank puts them on center).
~
I've looked on ebay a couple of times but I must be searching the wrong way.
I'll try antother way and see what it brings.
~You might give Omni-turn a try, they have quite a selection of
~tooling that'll fit your machine. Warning, though,...they don't like
~to sell to owner's of competitors machines.
~
Man, that just makes me angry. If I'd known that the machine tool industry
was so screwed, I'd have never started doing business with any of them. Is
my money purple? I'll tell you, one of the reasons that I didn't do
business with them in the first place, is that they were so wierd about
that. It seems also that the only aftermarket producer of tooling and
toolholders is a company called Engineering Concepts. And in my dealings
wiht the owner of that company I get a wierd vibe.
I just hope that I don't end up with a 3500lb paperweight. This is my first
cnc purchase. And I already get a bitter taste in my mouth.
