Ron,

I see a couple of problems with you ideas, perhaps because on this side of
the pond we have a slightly different approach to business and enterprise,
but, if the list is only provided at a fixed annual charge, what incentive
is there for people new to the hobby or thinking around the fringes of it,
to join the list and probably become hooked?
Also, if the list were put on a pure business footing, this would, almost by
definition, remove the philanthropic element and it would be short step to
people providing information on the list wanting to be paid for it. I have
no objection to business in its place but I don't think this is it. As an
anaolgy, I would suggest that, at the moment this list is like the Salvation
Army - providing help free to anyone who seeks it, whereas a business based
list would be like the other aid organisations - it is interesting to note
that the only aid organisation still providing help and support after the
Sept 11th events is the Salvation Army!
